| The Berlin gig has been moved to a new venue: Babylon Berlin. The date remains the same. |

Is this a venue where one has to stand? That would not be easy for little Odysseus being just little over 5 feet. |

I was listening to one of the recordings of Brendan's last tour yesterday (courtesy I think of Oddball), and was reminded that Brendan played 'In power we trust the love advocated' on his 1999 tour.
It got me thinking that Brendan might play a couple of older songs we are not used to hearing live from him or Dead Can Dance for a long time or even ever. Lisa did this on her last tour with 'Host of Seraphim'.
Anyway, living in the warm glow of possibilities, my mind turned to...
Labour of Love
The Arcane
Advent
Indoctrination

Of those, I think Xavier would be at the top…

| Just ordered my ticket for the Berlin show. Who else will be there? Maybe we could meet. Never met anyone from this forum. |

thanx
I've repeatedly made the experience that information regarding seating/standing is not reliable at all.
tickets might be sold as "standing" and the venue might put up chairs nevertheless.
i very much do hope that this is the case here, too. standing shows often kill a bit of the music i find. there's always more audience noise and it's always nicer being able to focus on the music, rather than defending one's little spot close to the stage against all the folks that like coming late and then push themselves towards the front.

I must agree with Little Swan 's take on standing venues.
The Forum in London is a great venue if you want to see a band like the Pogues. But dreadful for Lisa and/Brendan.
I think Brendan must like it though having played there twice in 30 years.
If he plans a 3rd time, I'll sadly decline. |

I was backstage with Brendan at The Forum gig in 2005 and I mentioned to him how much I had enjoyed the sound of plastic beer glasses being crunched underfoot during the quieter songs.
He laughed and told me that he liked the completely different atmosphere of The Forum, because all other shows on the tour had been at seated venues, including the very much more upmarket Barbican the night before. He had really enjoyed the Forum show, because it removed the distance between the band and the audience.
Incidentally, he has played there at least three times that I can recall. I saw DCD there in 1986 (with Dif Juz, Wolfgang Press and Heavenly Bodies), 1989 and 2005.
And, also incidentally, if you listen to the official CD of the 2005 Forum gig, you can actually hear all of that plastic being crunched. The mics picked it up, but it's not nearly as loud as it was on the night.
Time have changed. I can remember at the 1989 gig that Brendan actually asked the audience to stop smoking, because it was making it difficult for Lisa to sing.
I recall that the tickets even featured a request not to smoke at the concert, but this polite request was massively ignored on the night. |
