Hello Lisa Smile thanks for the answering for the previous question, please be welcome to be in dreams with us, hope one day may be for real.
There's something in my heart that hurts everytime I listen to Black Forest (I personally loved the power of the song's ending in the live tour when your voice rised more than the studio version) so I wonder if I may ask: how personal and close this song can be for you to be hurted, I'm not trying to figure out what happened to you or 'who doesn't love you', but how this song is related to your feelings.
I must admit I have a truly sad memory of one of the saddest moments in my life concerning my mom (fortunately, it changed) every time I listen to it.

Dear Lisa (and Lisa's team)!

I would like to ask a few questions from your unreleased works and rarities.

I try to buy every official releases from DCD and your (you and Brendan) solo works, collaborations, movie soundtracks...etc.
There is a few LPs what I haven't find yet. For example:

V/A: SIGNAL TO NOISE SET vol. 2 -CLP 207, 1981 Nov.
(it contains your two songs entitled: 'In my' and 'Do the bandisto')

V/A: NO SIN LIKE DANCING -Slow Drama, 1982

I didn't find any information from this compilation LP...but as I know, it contains a track from your orher avantgarde punk band (called JUNK LOGIC).

How many MICROFILM, JUNK LOGIC and selfnamed (Lisa /Liza Gerrard) songs were recorded before your Dead Can Dance era?
I know these:
-Centerfold (MICROFILM)
-Window (MICROFILM)
-Summerhouse (MICROFILM)
-At the villa (live, MICROFILM) *
-Wire frame (live, MICROFILM) *
-Mess around (live, MICROFILM) *
-Poison letter (live, MICROFILM) *
-Loyalty card (live, MICROFILM) *
-Look over your shoulder (live, MICROFILM) *
-Love is never pure (live, MICROFILM) *
-Light (live, MICROFILM) *
-Contradiction (live, MICROFILM) *
-Espionage (live, MICROFILM) *
-Deep day (live, MICROFILM) *
-Mossaic (Liza Gerrard)
-In my (Liza Gerrard?)
-Do the bandisto (Liza Gerrard?)
-Yellow bean (live, JUNK LOGIC)

* Does these live songs contain your vocal?

An australian post - punk compilation (called CAN'T STOP IT 2) contains 'Centerfold' from MICROFILM.
Do you plan your other old songs to be re-released on CD?
------------------------------------------------------------------

I think, your SILVER TREE album contains more songs fom your rejected CONSTANTINE movie score, not only 'Towards the tower'.

Can you confirm it?

-Shadow hunter (on THE SILVER TREE)
-Mirror medusa (on THE SILVER TREE)
-Towards the tower (on THE SILVER TREE) *
-Sword of the samurai (on THE SILVER TREE)
-The crossing (on BLACK OPAL)

How many songs were recorded for CONSTANTINE?
-----------------------------------------------------------------
There were few other rejected movie scores...like THE 13TH WARRIOR, PASSION OF THE CHRIST.

What happened with these recording sessions?
------------------------------------------------------------------
You would have liked a solo album (MANTRAS OF A LOST ARCHETYPE) to be released.

Tracklist:

-Damhasdeen
-Eulogy for the innocent *
-Soltress
-Passage of the Paladin
-Entry *
-Devota *
-Poem of denied redemption *
-Minus sanctus *
-The dove and the serpent *
-Hymn for the fallen *
-Yamyinar *
-Curve
-Rejection
-Dance of the desert breeze *
-Awakening *

* I think, these songs has been released (with other titles).

EULOGY OF THE INNOCENT maybe equals with 'In search of innocence' (on BLACK OPAL). (?)

ENTRY appears with the same songtitle on THE SILVER TREE US edition as a hidden track. (The track isn't stereo. We heard a longer version on your tour. Have you re-recorded it? )

DEVOTA appears with the same songtitle on ASHES AND SNOW o.s.t.

POEM OF DENIED REDEMPTION is 'Redemption' on BLACK OPAL. (?)

MINUS SANCTUS appears on THE SILVER TREE as 'Wandering star'.

THE DOVE AND THE SERPENT appears on BLACK OPAL with the same songtitle. (Maybe it has a few overdubs or it was completely re-recorded...?)

HYMN FOR THE FALLEN is 'Sleep'. This song has 3 versions. There is a version on THE SILVER TREE UK edition as a hidden track. (Maybe it was the earlier version.)
There is an edited version of this...it can be heard on SANCTUARY DVD.
And the third version is the piano version on BLACK OPAL.

YAMYINAR is 'Serenity' on THE SILVER TREE.

DANCE OF THE DESERT BREEZE is maybe equals with 'Desert song' from deluxe edition of BLACK OPAL.

AWAKENING is not the same as the B-side of THE HUMAN GAME single (or the song taken from NADRO).It can be heard on SANCTUARY DVD after the song called 'Violina'. AWAKENING is renamed...the new title is 'Red horizon'...and appears as the opening track on BLACK OPAL.

-------------------------------
Has these songs been released on anywhere else with different titles?
( 'Damhasdeen', 'Soltress', 'Passage of the Paladin', 'Curve', 'Rejection')

We can hear an unreleased song on SANCTUARY DVD (from 14:20 to 15:00)...indicated as 'Untitled'.
Maybe this is one of the unreleased songs from MANTRAS...and maybe more songs will be on deluxe edition of BLACK OPAL as bonus songs.
But I would like to know which song is which...
--------------------------------------------------------

I have a 9 track CD promo of ALI soundtrack. It contains a few unknown songs. Can we know those songtiltles?
('Set me free', 'Destiny' ??)
--------------------------------------------------------
We can hear an unreleased song on INSIDER DVD. What is the title of this...and do you plan it to be released?
--------------------------------------------------------
We can hear a few unreleased songs on L4YER CAKE DVD.
What the titlles of those songs and do you plan those songs to be released?
-------------------------------------------------------
Whats the title of the menu-song on SANCTUARY DVD?
-------------------------------------------------------

I think I haven't got any questions
Very Happy

I would be very happy to read your answers.

Thank you very much!

I love your music!

Andrew

Hi Lisa. I'm a huge fan of yours. You inspired me to sing whenever I'm feeling down or happy. My question (s) are: What is your true vocal range, contralto or mezzo-soprano?

Hi Lisa. I (and my wife) was one of the lucky people who saw you live at the Tempodrom in Berlin in September of last year. It was an experience that I cannot explain in words. The closest description would be a dream that one would hope never ends. Unfortunately, although Gene Hall had assured me that I would have the opportunity to meet you after the concert, you had to leave quickly to get to Amsterdam...so we did not meet.

After the Berlin concert, because I was told by the security that I could not meet you, I gave a flyer (leaflet) to one of Klaus's crew and he told me he would give it to you himself. This was from a Maltese (Malta is my country) music promoters who bring bands and musicians to Malta. They do not do it for profit, but only hope to get enough to cover the costs and prepare for the next concert. They are also friends of mine (one of them is actually the husband of my wife's sister). The flyer was an official proposal for you to perform in Malta someday.

I would like to ask you whether you recieved the flyer, and if yes, whether you would consider it. If you did not recieve it, I could ask them to contact you again, perhaps through email.

I know that it is not possible for you to perform everywhere, but having Lisa Gerrard in Malta would be my dream come true. As Malta is so close to Italy, maybe you could include it in the next European tour?

However, if you cannot make it, rest assured that I will understand.

Keep well.

Kenneth Cassar

One thing that i have noticed is that throughout your entire works you seem to rarely rarely use your highest , almost whistle -falsetto range. Yet i do believe i have accurately identified the majority if not all of the whale sounds in your whalerider soundtrack to be YOUR TIMBRE, and most of these sounds are way up in the falsetto range. Is this your voice, and if yes, is it thrown or stretched in any way, or are you simply using a part of your range you rarely use?

On a bolder note, i have some questions about vox/vocal/larynx aging. I think the peak note i have heard in your works that is clearly identifiable and is within your normal range (not falsetto at all) is the highest note in the incredible masterpiece Persephone. You nail a note which is right within Elaine P's (from die form, do you know their music?) typical range. Of course your voice has evolved and grown/changed throughout the decades, and i am curious if it has become significantly harder for you to hit your higher Mezzo saprano range as in host of the Seraphim. Though it may make you happy to know that there is a couple videos on youtube of you performing this song in 2007 wherein you NAIL it just as you did in your mid to late twenties when you wrote that divine piece. If you want to see one of them youtube search dead can dance 2007, it will be the first video to pop up and i am certain you will be delighted to see you KILL IT in that performance as great as ever.

I will close this message with a blunt, simple and reverent acknowledgment that you have absolutely the most divinely resonant, powerful, earth shattering and terrifyingly beautiful and intimidating voice my ears have ever heard, and i truly believe in the world. It truly is THE voice of THE host of the Seraphim. I pray i didn't flatter you to embarrasment. heh ; ).

Forever,
James~Tyler Embarassed

Thank you Lisa enormously for the fragrance you bring into our worlds, for the promises that change our courses towards that fragrance, thank you for your honesty, we do need that help.

There is a story about a man, who was saddened about thousands of starfish thrown out of the sea by a storm. One by one he was throwing them back in the water. A by passer approached and asked: “Why are you doing this? There are thousands of starfish on the shore, it makes no difference!” The man picked up a starfish, threw it in the water and said: “Sure it made a difference for this one!”

I do not believe in you changing the world.
I know you changing a man.
Is it a choice between comforting and transforming? How a mother sees it? How a Lisa Gerrard? And how am I, the one on the shore, to see it?
Love

Hello Lisa,

I just love your work and your wonderful voice. Let me ask you some questions.

1. What foreign languages do you speak and did any of them influence your own (singing) language especially? Do you understand Irish Gaelic?

2. I very much adore "Immortal Memory", the album you recorded with Patrick Cassidy. Sometimes it helps me to relax from terrible stress. Do you plan to work with Patrick in the future again?

3. Do you remember the moment/situation when it was made possible that you could make a living with your music?

4. Brendan is starting a big tour soon. Do you still keep contact?

Thanks a lot for you time!

Best regards
Marius (29), big little fan from Kitzingen, Germany

Dearest Lisa first of all thank you so much for bringing forth such beautiful creations of aural poetry it has been a constant source of inspiration in my life and is always so wonderful to revisit all your music it really feels like a new experience each time!!! I wanted to ask you about wich painters and/or poets inspire your work? i remember you talking about the symbolist painters and/or artists and how you have been inspired by them. Also does color play a role in your singing/performing ( i did a watercolor painting of you and used colors that reminded me of your voice very luminous) i guess i want to know if you visualize colors while you sing? and lastly do you know Leonora Carrington's work/paintings? Thanks inadvance and know that your presence is cherised by me and many of my friends!!!

[This is reposted here for Jiiimm]

"Hi Lisa,
I was at this concert, a brilliant, not to be missed night.
You were absolutely perfect. My first concert, I seemed to be drawn there.
Any reason why when you were at right hand stage, that you just stopped
For what seemed an incredible time.
What was going on there, as I felt I was part of it too?
Regards
Jiiimmm"

Hello Lisa,
How do you find artists for your record label? Do you search for them, hear of them, or do the artists come to you? The reason I ask is that there are some beautiful voices that are established in a minor markets, but lack the push of a good record label to increase exposure. I'm not a singer or any kind of musical artists, but I do buy CDs from singers with voices having excellent tone/frequency, pitch, and able to carry notes. Yes, I have a few of your CDs (favorite song of any of my collections is The Human Game).
Good day,
Lloyd Cool

Hello Lisa,
just another "fan-mail"... I'm sorry for bothering you! I got the Black Opal CD yesterday, I heard it a few times, very nice so far. Pity that there's no booklet with lyrics and notes.
There's one thing I wanted to ask for. It's about your singing. Before Black Opal I got a record of your concert in Prague from 2007 from your Silver Tree tour. I think I played it more than other albums of you. Your voice is so very powerful on it, especially on Black Forest, Sleep and The Maharaja. I really looked forward to the Black Opal to hear the studio recordings and I must say, unfortunately it's nothing compared to the live show. You use many effects to let the songs sound very "soundscape-like" and your singing is not as passionate as it is on live recordings or on earlier stuff of dead can dance. Is there any reason for that?
I really, really liked the music you did with Pieter Bourke and also your first solo album, especially the rhythmic ethno-sound for example in Ajhon.
Please don't get me wrong, I really like your new music and overall your poetry (!) but that earlier stuff was waking the spirits of mother earth for
me, a very special experience. I bought The Mirror Pool when I was 15 and I needed some years to get on with it. It became one of my favorite albums of all time.
I hope to see you live on stage soon and many, many thanks for all your beautiful music and for all your words and everything you did for mother earth!
Eternal Love and Light
Alex
