Gulf of Mexico Oil Spill

My wife and I are deeply upset by what's happened over there. Our thoughts and prayers go to the millions of life forms that cannot fathom what just befell them, and hope that they can weather this black storm...

Here is what this disastrous spill did to the shores of Louisiana, and its multitude of birds, seashells and all plant life in the vicinity.

My sincere hope is that this is the wake-up call that will signal the beginning of real effort to scrap our dependence on oil, all of it. To risk another such disaster, which not only already killed a giant part of the Gulf's ecosystem, but also destroyed the liveliness of many people living on its shores, seems absolutely irresponsible. Any planned drilling must be canceled, any current drilling must be phased out.

Lisa once said in a 2007 interview that we are such fools to think that we can destroy the Earth. That whatever we did to it, the Earth will survive it, that in fact the Earth will survive us. I don't know what I believe or not about the Earth's consciousness or how it may feel or respond to anything that happens on its surface. But if it is conscious, and I were in its place, I could do something terrible to rid myself of parasites such as we...

Peace,
Frank

I share your thoughts, but feel helpless. When will we ever learn?

I'm very sad to see the dying of birds and fishes.

Thank you for your thoughts my friends. I must say that birds and animals are not the worst damaged here: there's a lot of poor people deeply affected by this; but, seriously, this is unfortunate, but definetively not the worst thing happening in my country... we're in a deeply sad situation...
